Journey, Steve Miller Band Bound For New Orleans' Smoothie King Center In March 2015

A classic rock double bill of Journey and Steve Miller Band is scheduled for Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on March 8, 2015. The Tower of Power horn-heavy open the show. Tickets go on sale Friday, December 5 at 10 am through Ticketmaster.

Tour returns to Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on March 8, 2015, on a bill with the Steve Miller Band and Tower of Power.

This will be the third time that the current incarnation of Travel, with the Filipino singer Arnel Pineda, has led what is now the Smoothie King Center. The web site was sold in 2009 and 2011. Under high Pineda is eerily reminiscent of Steve Perry, the lead singer in most of the best-known hymns Journey. Perry withdrew from the live performance 19 years ago, even though briefly eels guest appearance with the band at a show in Minnesota this spring. It was also seen on the steps of San Francisco during the campaign Giants World Series this year; Travel-sung standard Perry "Do not Stop Believin '" has been adopted by the Giants as a team anthem.

When Journey last played in the stadium, guitarist Neal Schon founder gave a guitar painted by hand to a child in the audience. These gifts were a tradition Schon on that tour. Travel set lists these days usually include a couple of recent songs, Pineda at the time, but mostly fan favorites of the 1970s and 80s.

Besides Schon, the last day of the trip also includes original bassist Ross Valory, and keyboardist Jonathan Cain, whose mandate goes back to the mega-selling 1981 album "Escape".

The Steve Miller Band last came to town for a show at the Saenger Theatre in March. The SMB spent much of the summer amphitheater tour with the trip; Double success program will continue until the spring of 2015.

The announcement of the 08 March series means you can cross both travel and the Steve Miller Band from the list of possible headliners for the 2015 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival presented by Shell.
